MAXO KREAM: A Product of Alief
Maxo Kream is one of several artists from that early generation to create a Alief wave. Maxo spearheaded that wave and the depiction of his life paint a picture for those who have never been to those parts. Apple City is a lot different from what it was in the 80’s. Wikipedia says its motto is “The friendliest most diverse city in Houston.” Diverse? yea. Friendly? I don’t think so. It had one of the first blocks in Houston to claim Black Disciples and Gangsta Disciples in the early 90’s. It’s notorious for its infamous prostitution stroll, Bissonnet. Where year around you can get your needs met day or night. Nigerians are a force, occupying real estate in the area in Alief formally known as westwood, with restaurants, salons, barber shops, and markets. And in that area the pioneers of scamming. Nigerians in Southwest Houston are a force, through white collar crimes and in the streets. And thats part of who Maxo is. If you listen to his music you can get more than drugs, guns and violence. Young listeners should take his music as lessons from someone who has experienced it.
